Ben qualified from Leeds University in 1998 and worked in England where he developed a special interest in sedation
and anxiety management. After completing the Society of Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry courses, he was
awarded a Merit in the Diploma in Conscious Sedation from Newcastle University. This gave him the skills to treat
patients who are severely phobic or have complex medical needs.
He has been placing dental implants since 2004 and routinely uses 3D CT scans and computer guided placement to ensure accurate
and efficient placement. He is a keen member of the Association of Dental Implantology and attends conferences
and study clubs to ensure his knowledge is up to date with recent improvements in this field. He also runs
courses at 18 Dental for his referring dentists.
Ben uses CEREC technology for both tooth-supported and implant-supported restorations. This technology allows
for accurate and cosmetic results in a single visit maximising patient comfort and convenience.
Ben is a Denplan Excel accredited dentist and the Denplan practice support advisor for Northern Ireland.

Ursula qualified in Dentistry from Queen's University Belfast (1998) after gaining a first class honours degree
in Anatomy.
She became a licensed associate (homeopathy) from the Royal London Homeopathic hospital in 2004. In 2012 she
attained the Tipton Certificate in Restorative Dentistry. Subsequently she completed the Level 1 and 2 Six Month
Smiles post-doctoral courses in short term orthodontics.
This was followed by the Wired Orthodontics Nine Day Core of Knowledge course and placement of temporary anchorage devices
in orthodontics.
Ursula has a special interest in the treatment of dentally anxious patients using sedation as well as the use
of cosmetic orthodontics as a conservative approach in the improvement of natural smiles. She has worked in
general practice in both England and Northern Ireland.

Carmel Leonard

Carmel graduated from QUB in 1991. She has worked in general practice in Carryduff and Ballymena and also in the
Community Dental Service before joining 18 Dental in 2005.
Carmel provides a full range of general dental services and has a particular interest in cosmetic dentistry including same
day CEREC crowns and cosmetic white fillings. She is keen to provide family friendly preventative and cosmetic
treatments, especially for dental phobic patients and offers both inhalation and intravenous sedation.
Carmel is committed to undertaking continuous postgraduate training to update her clinical skills and has completed
the Tipton Restoration course. Carmel has also been providing facial aesthetic treatments since 2014.

Helen graduated with Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from University of Dundee in 2012.
As a student she volunteered with “Special Smiles” at the Special Olympic World Summer Games in Athens. She completed her Vocational Training year in Perth, Scotland.
Following a rotation in Dundee Dental Hospital, Helen returned home in 2013. Since then she has worked in general practices and urgent dental care centres in Counties Armagh and Tyrone.
She undertook post graduate examinations and in 2014 qualified with Diploma of Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (MFDS RCPS). In 2019 she completed an Implant Course tutored by Dr David Murnaghan in association with Bio Horizons and the Cone Beam CT Interpretation Masterclass by Dr Jimmy Makdissi.
Helen provides a full range of general dental treatments for the whole family.
Her interest in dentistry is wide-ranging and she continues to further her knowledge and skills by attending regular training courses.

Brioni graduated from Teesside University with a First Class Honours in Dental Hygiene and Therapy, 2019.
In addition to her skills as a hygienist she undertakes the application of fluoride, fissure sealants, fillings on deciduous (baby) and permanent teeth, pulp therapy and extraction of deciduous teeth, as well as the emergency temporary replacement of crowns and fillings.
She takes great interest in managing dental anxiety and paediatric dentistry.

After joining 18 Dental in 2009, Laura gained the Level 3 Dental Management Certificate in 2012 and the Advanced
Practice Management in 2015.
She is a Denplan champion and has responsibility for overseeing RQIA and Denplan Excel inspections as well ensuring
exemplary patient service.
